Finding My Passion.

I’m still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. This may seem puzzling with PRISM celebrating its 13th year and continuing to grow. Yet, I have found that many people are never completely satisfied with where they are. I think this is different than being happy; it’s really more about being hungry – or passionate. As I meet successful people from all walks of life I see one key ingredient they all seem to possess – passion.

I wrote last time about balancing the activities in my life so that my passion for what I do continues to grow. I have been fortunate to find a career in marketing and now entrepreneurship that gets me excited every Sunday night to start a new week.

This particular Sunday, I was too excited to sleep. The next day I would be meeting with two Senior Vice Presidents for one of central Ohio’s largest companies in downtown Columbus. I was so energized by the possible opportunities that could ensue.

In addition, I have also found a love for volunteering and giving back in ways that has been surprising to me. I love that what I do translates into every arena of my life. It’s been rewarding to share my passion for marketing to help my church raise awareness for fundraising initiatives and to publicize educational science events at COSI.

When you truly love something, it is never about how many hours you have to work or how much you get paid. Of course those things are important, however, it just feels like they come to those who love what they do (and of course work in the for profit sector!).
